This project was borne out of my passion for master key systems and IC cores. It comes with my experience running the day to day operations of a locksmith business & my experience as a Locksmith & Security Project Manager for a national company. This service fills a niche in the industry – allowing locksmiths, general contractors, and institutions to do something they have not been able to do until now. That is, order locks, cores, and keys to specific specifications all online. Our purpose is not to be a general distributor or sell to the general public. Our mission is to excel at supplying custom key systems on demand. This is just the beginning and there is more to come.

Product Offering Terminology

Keyed Alike – The same key will open all cores you order.

Keyed Different – Each core you order will have its own unique key

The cores are chosen at random, but you will receive the number for future reference and ordering keys at a later time. All keyed Alike and Keyed Different cores are from the “off master” series.

For example, if you order 3 keyed alike cores. You will receive 3 identically pinned cores. The same key will open all three locks. You will receive a series reference number such as Series A KA 1. If you need keys in the future, you will be able to go to our key ordering product and order additional operating keys and control keys based on the series and keyed alike code

Similarly, if you order 3 Keyed different cores you will receive 3 cores with different pinning. Each core will come with 2 keys that operate only that lock. When ordering multiple keyed different cores, the same control key will be provided unless you request otherwise.

Keying by Series

Each series is actually a master keyed system, except the “off master series.” Purchasing a master keyed core provides you with incredible flexibility and future planning.

For example, if you are asked to provide 2 cores for the exterior doors to a facility you can select the “A” series and keyed alike code “KA 1.” If at a later date, you are asked to add a core to the owner’s office door you can select “A” series and keyed alike code “KA 2.” The control key will match for both the exterior doors and the new office door. Additionally, you can order a masterkey for the “A series” and provide a key that will operate the exterior doors and the office door.

Off-master: This is listed as its own series. The off-master series does not have any master pins. Each core has its own operating key. They are grouped by 5s for shared control keys. Meaning Off-master KA1 KA2, KA3, KA4, and KA5 all share the same operating key. KA 6 through KA 10 share a control key. When someone orders 3 keyed different cores we will select them from the same group of shared controlled keys.

Keyways: The series are simply an easy way to keep track of different systems. The same terminology “series A” is used for both Schlage, SFIC, and Corbin systems – even though the pinning has nothing in common. You can order Series A KA1 in Schlage and Series A KA1 in SFIC and there is no overlap or correlation between the two systems.

6 pin versus 7 pin: The charts for SFIC key system are all made for 7 pin cores. Comparing a Series “A” KA1 core ordered in a 6 pin versus a 7 pin, you will find that the 7^th chamber (closest to the bow) is omitted. If you order a key duplicate for an SFIC lock it will have 7 cuts and can be used to operate either a 6 pin or 7 pin core.

A Note about Security

We currently have over 30 separate systems available for instant purchase and are adding more. We also offer the creation of user specific systems at little or no cost. We do provide the pinning and key information for each core we provide. Our cores are not face stamped. The odds of another industry professional purchasing the same core/key combination and using to open a lock you installed is slim to none. The odds of two home/business owners having identical keys by purchasing keyed alike locks from a hardware store is significantly higher. We also distribute nationally further reducing this concern. What we are offering is no different from distributors that have 1-40 keyed alike cores available for purchase – we just make it dramatically easier to reorder. Security and convenience are often at odds with each other – furthermore methods of destructive entry are always available. We encourage anyone to reserve their own unique system. That being said, we offer no warranty or accept any liability for the use of our products and any damages/injury that may occur from their use.
